A query does not return the desired data. How do I get the missing data?

The content modules released in each case provide different data, but not every data record also contains all possible details. Missing matches are usually still in process.

Missing modules (Available MultiCodes content)

Basically, only a GIATA ID, the hotel name, the city, a destination area (political or tourist destination) and the country, each in English, are mandatory details of a MultiCodes record. In addition, there are optional contents, which are activated in the user account according to the concluded license agreement.

For example, if the query of a hotel record does not return an address, it is possible that the corresponding address module has not been licensed or that there is no address for this object.

If the query of a hotel data record returns the matches to some data suppliers, but certain data suppliers are missing, it may be that these are either not activated in the respective user account or are basically not assigned.

Missing Supplier Enables (Supplier and Tour Operator Codes)

In each MultiCodes user account, more than 500 different channels can currently be enabled, some of them individually. Some matches* are basically part of the module (free suppliers or tour operators) and others are only released if required and also only after written consent of the data supplier. These releases are obtained by GIATA as part of an agreement with the respective data supplier. Data suppliers thus have control over who has access to the matching results. These channels are output with the type "gds" or can be filtered according to this.

Matchings to booking codes* of the tour operator catalogs of the Internet Hotel Guide (XML) are always released completely if required, since corresponding releases already exist here in the context of the tour operator co-operations. These channels are output with the type "tourOperator" or can be filtered accordingly.

Missing Matchings (Matching Status)

If a query of all records of a certain data supplier does not return all records expected by the user, there are several reasons for this:

  • Matching of data providers (GDS channels)

The client uses a different interface to retrieve data than GIATA and therefore may receive data faster than GIATA or in a different form. Depending on the purpose, the interfaces and data deliveries are not all updated in the same time window and may differ. For example, while the bookable details are already available on the customer side, this update has not yet been processed by GIATA or is not even available yet and the new matching is therefore not yet available in MultiCodes. The code is missing or still marked as active although the offer is no longer bookable and vice versa.

Once an update has been processed (done daily, weekly, monthly or individually as agreed) each changed and processable record goes through a standard process. Non-processable (defective) data is returned to the data provider. Records that have not been changed (according to a defined deviation scale) are not processed again and the code linked here retains its matching status. There are numerous internally used statuses that provide information about the status of the process, from "in progress" to "non-matchable" to "mapped", every change can be tracked here, even retroactively back to the first data delivery. New data is first processed automatically, then with the help of special internal processes, and finally manually and assigned a GIATA ID. If the data record contains too little information or misleading data, it is marked as "non-matchable" and not delivered in MultiCodes.

All other data records are processed manually as quickly as possible according to an internally defined priority and, depending on the data quality, can be output via MultiCodes within a few days or a few weeks.

  • Booking codes of tour operators (Tour Operator channels)

Unlike the GDS channels, i.e. the supplier data, only the booking codes for which there is an active (=published) offer in the Internet Hotel Guide (XML) are made available via MultiCodes here.
