Using this API, customers get access to hotel images, fact sheets and multilingual hotel descriptions.
Where does the data come from?
The Multilingual Hotel Guide (MHG) data was historically partly aggregated automatically (from tour operator data) or enriched by third party data (fact mapping). Images are added (but not deleted) automatically via ICEPortal in addition to a one-off images import from MTS/OTS in 2017. Additional images are manually transferred from the data of hoteliers who directly upload images themselves via GIATA Drive. Fact sheet maintenance is currently handled manually via RTK (the real-time catalogue interface), as the MHG records are processed the same as a Tour Operator's catalogue (catalogue ID3, GHGML).
The generated texts are created automatically on the basis of the Text Renderer (logic developed manually by the "Descriptive Content'' department to generate the text sections in all available languages) and the available GIATA Fact Sheet. There is currently a minimum requirement of 500 characters before a generated text is published.
While the text is delivered in the 25 currently available languages, the Fact Sheet available in MHG is available in 42 languages.
Updates:
Changes to the RTK Fact Sheet or imagery usually take 2-3 days to be reflected on the MHG interface.
