How does the Room Type Mapping work?

RTM is a supplier-independent Room Level Mapping that aims to provide a dynamic solution to inconsistent data.

GIATA RTM is an externally provided Live-XML API that processes raw data on room offers from all suppliers and groups them into generally understandable, comparable room-type groups.

Oftentimes, when presenting the vast number of hotel search results on their website, platforms present the lowest-priced provider results first, or simply display all available rooms and rates to the customers leaving them with an inconsistent bulk of room type names and descriptions. RTM helps customers find and compare the best offers on your platform, in different languages.

Following intense market research and data analysis, the GIATA developers team tested different approaches to be able to uniquely identify room categories across multiple providers but had to learn that room type information is too inconsistent and dynamic to get a reasonable result by applying common software matching processes.

The answer to these problems is a dynamic solution that matches and groups all the inconsistent information across different integrated content providers during the live search process, directly at the point of sale, in order to help present bookable products in an easy-to-understand and consistent language.
