See the common reasons why a property is not yet mapped in GIATA.
Unsupported Property Types
Sometimes, we encounter properties that cannot be created in our system because the accommodation type is unsupported. These properties receive a generic GIATA code, which won’t appear in the MultiTool. Unsupported types can include accommodations like test hotels, cruises, or apartments. We use specific flags to categorize these properties according to their type.
Missing Basic Information
When a supplier ID doesn’t provide all the necessary details to assign a property, we use the "lacks basic information" flag. Depending on what's missing, we might note that the hotel name, address, phone number, or other essential data are absent.
Inconsistent Data
Occasionally, supplier codes contain conflicting information—for instance, a hotel name that doesn’t match the provided address. In these cases, we flag the property as "inconsistent". For example, if two hotels share the same address but the supplier uses only a partial name (like “La Abadia” when the options are “La Abadia Plaza” and “La Abadia Central”), we cannot confidently assign the property to a GIATA-ID.
No Official/Reliable Source to Validate
In some cases, we may not be able to create a new property record because there are no reliable primary or secondary websites available. When this happens, we mark internally "neither primary nor reliable secondary URL".
In Process of Being Mapped
The property did not meet the automated mapping process criteria and is pending manual review by our master data and mappings department.
